In last nights HC Div2 Mafia v QS, played on their server, we had an automatic download of a file. We played this match through to the end, with the results being mp_crash Mafia 18 - QS 2 and mp_pipeline Mafia 19 - QS 1. We only found out the name of this file after the match ended. Now, my question to the League admin, has the file "zzz_nogunsway.iwd" now been allowed to be used in league matches? I personally have not seen anywhere on Clandle that this mod is allowed. I am not bleating about the result, although I would never have thought we were that bad, but they, on the face of it, were the better team. I query the above referenced file and it's use? We were never asked whether we wanted to have this file, it was automatically downloaded whether we wanted it or not. Therefore, we as a clan, have never practiced with, or on servers running this mod, or ever had a chance to use it, because we were under the impression it wasn't allowed. Depending upon the Admin answer is whether or not I confirm the result as it stands in good faith. Thank you.

"zzz_nogunsway.iwd" is not used at clandle.
This is a mod which clanbase use with their pam, I'm not sure if the pam they use includes it in the internal workings of pam
I will look into this this afternoon.
This mod is on public servers too which are not pam controlled.
It's an additional file not in built. Our server is used for CB, TWL, Enemy Down and ESL as well as clandle. All of which require the no sway file. I didn't realise it was not allowed in clandle. I was told it is frowned upon but not disallowed. I will remove the file from the server for clandle matches from now on.

Hi,
It stops the sway on some snipers (maybe all) so breath does not have to be held, but the gun has to be reloaded after each shot. I think thats correct from the few times i`ve played with it on.
As the rules state :-
"If both sides agreed to change round length or anything else, then that is fine as long as both agree"
I guess the fact that you played on would be considered you agreeing to it.
Really the file shouldnt of been there, although we have had it on our server in the past and forgot to remove it for the Clandle match, the opposite team asked if it could be removed. We have also ourselves asked Enclave to remove it in the past aswell before the game.
It doesnt take too long, just deleting the file and restarting the server, it`ll add 5 minutes on to your wait but if you arent happy playing under that file then it`s well worth requesting it to be removed.
If the opposite team wont`t remove it then thats a different matter.
I would have happily removed it if i'd have been asked. The no sway mod doesn't affect the snipers at all as far as i know. Only the other guns. There is another pam addition called untiredsniper that removes sway from snipers but that definately isn't on our server.

Ah, I thought it did. I played a war the other day under clanbase rules which had the nosway mod and I just picked sniper but it was while waiting to ready up so it could of been caused by that.
I think I know what you`re on about though and that it stops sway on weapons like M4 Carbine when iron sighted.

I just refer to my first post "We were never asked whether we wanted to have this file, it was automatically downloaded whether we wanted it or not." That is my point to the post. At the starting of a match, one is checking numerous other items, fully thinking that at least Mafia were correct and we had missed something on the forums. There just wasn't time then to go and check every forum post trying to find if this file was acceptable or not, we just got on with the match. Having been informed previously that we should have read the rules of Clandle and comply with them, therefore one would assume that the same applies to Mafia Clan. No disrespect to anyone, but I prefer to wait until I hear what Studek has to say on this matter.

it was automatically downloaded whether we wanted it or not
Although this is so, if you had then asked maf1a to remove it from the server then the file would not of taken effect. I have this file in my Pam4 folder due to playing on some Clanbase ruled servers, the file does not take effect when I play on servers which do not have it, ie Clandle style servers.
fully thinking that at least Mafia were correct"
Never assume any clan is correct, always rely on your own knowledge, if in doubt seek to clarify with an admin. I`m usually available on xfire as are other admins.
I`m not trying to say you are correct or incorrect, as far as i`m aware there is no particular rule regarding outside "mods" and maybe something that needs looking at. As I follow it then the file is allowed if the other team agree to it, in writing or continuing with the match - although it is not officially a Clandle required file and could not be forced to be played with.
Either way feel free to wait for a response from Studek, he might even correct me and then send me to the naughty corner

I am not being pedantic on this point, but you England4eva are now speaking with hindsight and the information to hand. Had I had hindsight at the start of this match, then perhaps things would have been different. However, they weren't, because we assumed, rightly or wrongly, something which with hindsight has now been proven to be incorrect.

Hi,
I am speaking following my own rules not hindsight or any other sight for that matter, my two golden rules :-
"never assume anything"
"rely on myself"
Not going to get into an arguement over this as it seems you are taking my points all the wrong way. All I can say is it up to each clan to make sure everything is running correctly and the rules are being followed, admins are on hand to answer any queries. Rules/files that are clearly against Clandle rules will receive a punishment if the offending clan fails to either 1) remove them or 2) correct them.
On a last note, if "hindsight" includes making yourself aware of the rules and what is and is not allowed in a Clandle match then I would suggest you gain yourself some "hindsight" for future games that you play :D
Good Day.

Right the basic find is that this mod, will benefit ALL. Regardless on which pam mod is used.. cb ed etc...
More info:
This client side IWD removes the guns from swaying when you're standing still and aiming down the sight. This removes the documented sway bug; that shots are not registered in the middle of the crosshair or the middle of the screen, they just register randomly.
If you want proof of the bug and discussions:
http://www.infinityward.com/community/forum/index.php?topic=10703.0
All weapons except the snipers are added here, this is because to fix the snipers the easy way, they would become "CS-snipers", meaning you wouldn't have to hold your breath to hit. I have not yet found a way to make the snipers "COD2-snipers", meaning when you're holding your breath the crosshair is not moving, but moving otherwise.
This .iwd should work with all mods, just place it in the same folder as the mod you want to use. Because it is a client side IWD, people will have to be able to download it from the server, if they don't have it already.
So if you have it on your pc () then you will be on the same playing field as everyone one else .... so to speak. (excuse pun)
So both clans benefit.... I cannot see any reason not to include if you want to use it..... As you can see everyone is using it and I've downloaded file many times myself... playing against various clans
I've added to download section, so everyone can use it... O would recommend adding to server too in mods/pam4
So result will stand.... As both clans benefited, all had same files that provided the same advantage to the game.
as i said the file will be removed for future clandle matches.

You can have the last word England4eva if it makes you happy. The result of the match has now been confirmed. Subject closed.

As offered by yourself, I will give you my "last word"
I gave you an answer, you didn`t like it. I was polite and told you that you should of checked before hand. This isn`t what you wanted to hear.
Your stupidity caused this situation, you failed to check what was allowed and disallowed then when crushed to a point beyond belief you tried to come and question it. I`m sure this post wouldn`t even exist if the result had been in your favour.
On a final note this is a "forum" which allows for "discussion", it is not about having a "last word" or getting one over on one another. The purpose is so threads can be debated, you make a post in the public arena then you open yourself to replies that you may or may not agree and/or disagree with.
