Season 8 Details: 10th September 2007 - 17th November 2007
Welcome to Season 8 of Community Counter Strike Source League (CCSSL) in association with Game-Serve [http://www.game-serve.co.uk] our Head Sponsor, and various other sponsors THIS SEASON. I would like to state for the record that we are a league that is unique in it's own right. We have faced so many problems in the past, but we always fight back to become a recognised league. The clans are what makes this league work, and with the right tender loving care we can make CCSSL Great Again. CCSSL started in January 2005, where there was a hope to bring all the best teams in Europe under one roof, and in one good league. CCSSL is making strides upon strides to make that hope a reality and to make "CCSSL Great Again". We understand that there are problems with every league and ladder, and we are FAR from perfect, but we also recognise that we have potential to become bigger and better, and Season 8, is another step to that. We are trying to build a stable league, and a place where all skill levels can compete, whether it be low skill or, top European Skill, we like to make this a home for all skills, and this is what our divisions, our maps and our very nature is based around, making it a home for all. Season 8 will hopefully house some recognised names in the CSS Community, and we try our best to fulfill every clans needs. CCSSL is not just a league, its a market to other friends, and a place to make rivals, we boast ourselves to being a friendly league that is built on a community.
Servers:
We shall be recieving 4 BRAND new 100 Tick stable servers for Season 8. These are to be provided by Sven from Evality and his new server hosting company. This will now run along side with four others we will be using as "fall back" prizes, and possible Public servers for the future. IPs will be placed in the rules, and every where else.
Prize Giving:
As everybody knows Season 7 was the first season in CCSSL's history that we gave out prizes, it was a slight achievement, and we feel confident now knowing that despite not delivering prizes on time, and having certain problems with other prizes, we have learnt from these mistakes and will rectify them this season. In Season 7, i have spent my time chasing and being chased by clans about their prizes, i have also chased up the companies responsible with the prizes. It has been hard work, and in which i have now given more thought to the process we have in place. The Prizes will now be given to The TOP TWO from each division. We found this as a much better way, as some clans only had few points and still managed to get 3rd. More details on the prizes will be given in a bit.
Companies who will provide the prizes will now be asked to give a way of contacting them (for example MSN) in circumstances where we need to follow up on prizes.
As soon as the Season HAS FINISHED (the Sunday as soon as Week 8 is finished) i or a member of the admin staff will post up the Winners on the League Main Page, the clan who recieves their prizes will be given TWO WEEKS from that post to claim their prizes. If a clan does NOT WISH to claim their prize, then the prizes will be roll over to a future event of CCSSL.
The Prizes will then be given to the selected players/clans within two more weeks after the finish date of the claiming of the prizes. IF those clans do not recieve their prizes within those two weeks they can contact me and i will then follow up on the case.
I must remind all clans that we are not paid to do our jobs, and all we ask is for your patience when dealing with other companies who are giving your prizes out.
Admin Restructure:
Last week i posted a piece of news of two new admins who have been recruited into the staff, and the fact we are reshuffiling our crew. Well just to reassure all clans, we do take this league VERY seriously, and we are always hoping to better our ways in making it easier for you, and for us as well. So we have had a few more positions opening up while we recruit for more specified admins. The admin restructure is planned to continue over this season and NEXT Season, along with the growth of ladders and more cup events. We aim to make your lives easier when sorting out problems, or having ideas etc etc, which in turn makes the admins lives easier, as it doesn't mean 1 person or a select few doing the a LOT of the hardwork. Like last season, we had problems with admins being inactive or turning up for matches, we have in turn sorted this out and shipped out the "inactive" members of staff, and shipped in more versitale and much more active players to help us make CCSSL Great Again.

Map List & Features of Season 8:
As ever, we do like to throw a challenge in for all types of clans, and im still debating about this seasons map list. However i have not dropped the current map list, just changed which map goes on which week, just to keep it interesting. Again we have a TWO MAP week which has become a must have to our ever growing seasons, and its becoming the most unpredictable weeks of the Season. However, will the CGS Style Week change this formula? We hopped on the CGS bandwaggon so to say, to see if we can implement such a feature into the Season. The CGS Style Week is a one off for this Season only unless we feel the Community would like it next season. It will implement the rules of CGS into just the one week of MR9 and 16k start money. Its a period of "wait and see" testing, whether it works in the CCSSL ways is one thing, its whether the community likes it is the other thing to test. So without further a do, i will produce the Map List:
Week 1: de_nuke
Week 2: de_train - CGS Style
Week 3: de_season
Week 4: de_cpl_fire & de_cpl_mill
Week 5: de_cbble
Week 6: de_contra
Week 7: de_strike_rc3 & de_dust2
Week 8: NONE & NONE - OVER RUN WEEK AND PLAYOFFS
So as everyone can see, no new maps this Season to learn for the time being, it will probably be next season :P
Pre-Season
I am hoping ALL clans are now well aware of what happened last season. If you dont then last season we started the season in a rush, and really only half the clans were signed up (we had just changed over to the new website, and clans had probably lost their way to Clandle at the time), but nevertheless we found ourselves having major problems at the start where really only half the clans turned up in the first two weeks, so myself and the admin team decided to restart the season in a hope that clans would get themselves together. Some clans thought this was a good idea, some thought it was a bad idea. We did it, and a few clans were really mift about the whole thing. So this season, the admin team have decided that we would feel it neccessary for each season to have a TWO WEEK pre-season. It will be compulsory for ALL CLANS to turn up, just to make sure the admin team know who is actually interested in playing in Season 8, and who really isnt. It is also a good way to iron problems out before the Season, and not to mention, to see whether we have the divisions right on skill. It also gives all clans a chance to "find their way" with how CCSSL operates, and get the real "Community" feel in motion. There are always problems in each league, its just our way to finding them as early as possible and rectifying them before the season starts officially.
Two Week Pre-Season will begin on 10th September and run through to 23rd September 2007. The two Maps that are chosen to be played will be de_dust2 and de_nuke. These fixtures will not be against the clans you will be playing the maps on, instead against two other clans in YOUR division, it will help in repeating what happened last season.
Conflict Procedures:
As ever, all leagues AND ladders encounter conflicts, in scores, hacking, foul mouthing, general abuse, or any other problems encounted. We have never had a "proper" procedure for clans to follow, this season will be the first season where wwe will see that procedure adopted, and as ever its Trial & Error, so we shall see how this procedure works, and will hope that something right will come out of it for Next Season.
This is CCSSL's Procedure for Season 8:
Currently we have Match Admins who spectate the match and uphold the rule set for CCSSL, if you however do have any problems during the match that are not "top prioty" we expect you to say in Message Mode 2 what is your exact problem.
"Top Prioty" is where you suspect a player to be hacking or there are rules that are NOT being upheld properly.
When Processing a conflict, you must write a brief report on what happened, include a demo of the match, and screenshots of the incidents which will help your case. You must also write in your brief report what tick of the demo to watch, which will make our life much easier and less time consuming so that a clan can get a quick response. Despite a demo not being compulsory in the event of your clans using the CCSSL Servers, it would help back your case.
You Must then email (or PM) whoever your match admin was and CC it to the Conflict Admin. These admins will then discuss, and rule on what they have found, within a 72 hour period. If you do not get a response within 72 hours, then you must immediately find a Senior Admin (Senior Admins and Above). We will then chase up, we will then rule ourselves and give you a quick response (if possible) The conflicts should be answered WITHIN THE WEEK!
It is fairly simple to do, easy for you and easy for us which makes everyone happy (hopefully).
In the instance that there is a "suspected hacker" in the game and a player has notified the admin through Message Mode Two, then the Admin will ask for screenshots from ALL PLAYERS, and then all players will be asked to demo the remaining part of the match. You will then need to send all your screenshots and demo (prefereably in a ZIP folder) through your CLAN LEADER to the Match Admin AFTER the match. If we find that the player was hacking, the match will be given to the opposing side, and we will penalise the clan 10 Points, and ban the offending player. We DO NOT take Hacking LIGHTLY.
Rule Clarification:
As always at CCSSL we like to make sure that all clans and players respectively uphold our rules and understand them. Last season we had a few instances where an unwritten rule was ruled upon during matches, and a clan lost a few rounds because of it. The "unwritten rule" was based on boosting. We would like to make this clear to all clans that boosting IS allowed however abusing in game bugs via boosting IS NOT allowed, and we will take note.
General Respect for Admins:
We as admins do not ever ask for much, but last season, gave some admins a bad taste in their mouth. There were instances of clans giving us bad mouthing, and we feel this is not neccessary, we understand this is a league and we work for you, and we do try our very best to deliver you the best possible league. We just would like some understanding that we work full time/part time, and this is just a hobbie, we dont get paid, but we just do this because we like the league, and have hopes of making CCSSL Great Again. This season we would just like to ask for patience, and maturity.

Shoutcasting Matches:
We are currently in talks with an upcoming sponsorship company, to shoutcast Season 8's best matches on their new radio station. The company, who is Tigit.co.uk will shoutcast each week one or two matches from different divisions, basically the Pick of the bunch. This will help our bid to be a recognised league in Europe, and hopefully bring in more clans, and listeners to Tigit Radio. We will confirm whether this will happen during the Pre-Season.
Finally, we would like to wish ALL clans the best of luck this season, we hope you enjoy yourselves with CCSSL, and that you become a vital part of our community.
Thank You
